Day 1: Medellín → Fredonia → Puente Iglesias → La Pintada → Aguadas → Salamina | Total Kilometers: ~200 km (mix of pavement & off-road) We kick things off leaving Medellín and heading south into the mountains, riding smooth twisty roads toward Fredonia, where we pause for fresh coffee and a taste of authentic Paisa culture. From there, we descend to Puente Iglesias, a wooden suspension bridge straight out of an Indiana Jones movie, spanning the mighty Cauca River. The climb begins at La Pintada, where we trade warm river valleys for misty mountain roads. As we ascend, the scenery shifts from jungle and sugarcane to pine forests and endless rows of high-elevation coffee farms. By afternoon, we arrive in the Patrimonio Pueblos of Aguadas and Salamina, both gems of Colombia’s colonial heritage. That evening, we settle into a boutique hotel in Salamina, with an option to upgrade to La Leyenda 1860, a restored 19th-century mansion. After check-in, there’s time to wander the cobblestone streets, enjoy a hot chocolate or aguardiente with locals, and soak up the small-town atmosphere. Day 2: Salamina → La Merced → Supía → Caramanta → Valparaíso → Medellín | Total Kilometers: 250 km (mix of pavement & off-road) We rise early for a breathtaking ride through La Merced, where endless vistas reveal the rugged beauty of the Central Andes. From there, the adventure ramps up with a remote off-road section between Supía and Caramanta, a wild route full of river crossings, winding trails, and cloud forest tracks. By midday, we reach Valparaíso, a colorful Pueblo Paisa, where we break for a hearty local lunch before riding the final leg of the journey. The road winds past Cerro Tusa, Colombia’s famous natural pyramid, a striking landmark and perfect spot for photos. As the sun dips, we roll back into Medellín, closing out two days of riding packed with colonial charm, off-road adventure, and unforgettable mountain scenery.
